meal prepping tips

Christmas is a time when many of us celebrate the birth of Jesus. But what does Jesus have to do with your personal health & weight loss journey? Probably more than you think.

We often compartmentalize our lives into different areas like work, home, religion, body, etc. If we have a relationship with Jesus (God in human form), we often forget to include Him in our health goals because we see them as different “compartments”. But we’re whole people and every part of us affects another. Our relationship with Jesus is connected to our health and every other compartment of life.

Inviting God into your health and wellness journey is a key component to success!

Invite God into Your Health & Weight Loss Journey

Without God, my health & weight loss journey would have been far more difficult. I can’t tell you how many times I prayed and asked for help – and you know what? He delivered. It wasn’t in an instant, but he helped me achieve my goals, improve my health, and banish an unhealthy relationship with food.

I asked him to help me not overeat, lose weight, and make peace with my body. He did help, and he gave me freedom from thinking about all of these things so often! He gave me a much greater confidence in myself and in who he made me to be.

Clients of mine have prayed to ask God to help them with temptation with certain foods and they were able to overcome!

I tell my clients who have a relationship with God that we must put our goals into His hands. In our power we are weak, but in the Bible, God says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 2:19).

One of the most important things you can do when trying to lose weight or eat better or whatever your goal may be is to ask for God’s help. Only He can give us the ability to overcome food temptations, move our bodies when we feel lazy, bind up emotional wounds and traumas that lead us to unhealthy choices, and give us supernatural insight to understand what our bodies need to heal.

The Bible says that when we give our lives to Jesus, we are filled with His spirit living inside of us. This is what gives us power to do things we cannot do on our own.

Ways to Include Jesus in Your Health

When you feel unmotivated, ask God for motivation. When you are struggling with overeating, ask God for help to stop and the ability to listen to your body. When your body continues to seem to fight you, ask God for healing and trust that he will deliver at the right time and way. When you feel poorly about yourself, read Psalm 139: 13-16:

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.

God made you PERECTLY and knows exactly what you need, but you must go to Him, ask Him, and trust Him that He is good and will do what is best for you.

So this year when you’re exchanging gifts and enjoying holiday meals with family or friends, remember that he is still Emmanuel = God with us. He is with you, He is for you, and He cares about the details of your life. Yes, God even cares about your health goals.

But the TRUE gift of Christmas and Jesus is that He came to earth to give us eternal and abundant life. Giving your life to Jesus means gaining everything. As a coach who cares deeply for the whole-person well-being of others, the best advice I can give you is to make Jesus the King of your life this year.

If you’re not sure what this really means for you and looks like, then contact me! I’d be happy to explain more, and I offer faith-based coaching for women who want that unique perspective to help them reach their goals in a meaningful way.

Merry CHRISTmas!
